Trinity Valley Community College is proud to celebrate alumnus Collin Weyand on his selection as one of 11 new partners at Adams and Reese LLP, a distinguished law firm with offices across the southeastern United States.
“I feel incredibly blessed by God to have obtained this recognition, and I am excited for the future and to progress further in my career,” Weyand exclaimed.
Weyand, a member of the firm's Construction Practice Group in the Houston office, specializes in insurance coverage, construction litigation, and oil and gas litigation. His legal expertise includes taking numerous depositions, drafting dispositive motions and other critical legal documents for various proceedings. He also has obtained significant courtroom experience. Since joining Adams and Reese as a law clerk in 2018, Weyand has built a robust career in litigation and insurance law.
Collin’s journey to this achievement is marked by academic and professional excellence. He earned his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 2017, where he graduated seventh in his class, was a finalist in multiple Moot Court competitions, and received six CALI Awards for academic achievement. He served in various leadership roles, including Senior Articles Editor of the South Texas Law Review and Editor-in-Chief of the Adelphia Law Journal.
Before law school, Weyand completed his undergraduate studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was a Student Government Senator, a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, and active in the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. He graduated from SFA in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
His journey began at TVCC, where he played varsity basketball for two seasons and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Weyand graduated from TVCC in 2012 with an Associates of Arts in Kinesiology.
“TVCC instilled a strong work ethic in me,” Weyand said. “I played on the basketball team, so I quickly had to learn how to balance athletics with my studies. Also, in a sense, TVCC is a big part of who I am today. I’m not from the area so I met many people I would never have met and experienced many things that I would never have experienced if I never had come to Athens. I am very grateful for the people I met at TVCC, especially my coach, Guy Furr, who saw potential in me and invested in me. I still keep in touch with him today.”
Weyand’s career demonstrates the foundation for success that TVCC provides to its students, offering them the tools to excel both academically and professionally.
“Focus on your grades,” he shared. “It requires good grades to get into law school, but a community college like TVCC is a great place to get started. Also, get involved on campus and church and meet as many people as possible. You never know if a friendship will become a potential client relationship one day!
