Umonte Grant, a former Trinity Valley Community College student, received a special surprise while watching the Super Bowl commercials—he spotted himself walking in the background of a national ad!

Grant was featured as a background extra in a Salesforce commercial titled "Gate Expectations," starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

He attended TVCC from Fall 2022 through Summer 2024, completing his core courses while majoring in theatre and pursuing his dream of becoming an actor. During his time at TVCC, he performed in multiple productions, including “Mystic Pizza” as Bill Montijo, “Androcles and the Lion” as Androcles, “Clue: The Musical” as Mr. Green, and “The Haunting of Hill House" as Arthur Parker. During his performance as Arthur Parker in The Haunting of Hill House, he was nominated for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Region 6 Irene Ryan Acting Award.

Though Grant was seen for only a few seconds in the background, he hopes this opportunity will lead to more roles on the big screen.

“I’m just a kid from a small town with a big dream,” Grant shared. “It’s all about the little steps that gradually become bigger. Those couple of seconds on screen will soon be hours.”
