Trinity Valley Community College President Dr. Jason Morrison is no stranger to leadership, education, and community support. But now, he’s stepping into a new role—as a dancer.
Morrison will be one of the local celebrities participating in “Dancing with the Stars: ETX”, a charity event benefiting Stage Notes Academy of Performing Arts. The competition, modeled after the hit television show, will feature choreographed performances ranging from Broadway classics to Michael Jackson-inspired routines.
“Dr.Morrison has become a pillar in our community,” SNAPA Business Manager Troy Martin shared. “When we planned this event, we knew we wanted a representative from TVCC—but we never expected it to be him! We are over the moon to have him a part of our event.”
The event will take place at the Cain Center YMCA on June 21, 2025. Each celebrity and their professional dance partner will perform a 90-second routine in front of a live audience during a dinner event. Winners will be determined by a combination of judges’ scores and fundraising efforts, with three awards up for grabs: the Mirror Ball, the People’s Choice Award, and the Spirit Award.
"I’ve always believed in stepping outside of my comfort zone, and this is definitely a new challenge for me,” Morrison expressed. “But more importantly, ‘Dancing with the Stars: ETX’ is about supporting the arts and giving back to a community that has given so much to TVCC. I’m honored to be a part of this event and excited to represent the Home of Champions in a whole new way—on the dance floor.”
With Morrison lacing up his dance shoes, TVCC continues to show that its commitment to the community extends far beyond the classroom.
“TVCC’s partnership with local businesses and non-profits is amazing,” Martin added. “They truly go above and beyond to give back and support the community.”
