Trinity Valley Community College Theatre Department is excited to announce the student recognitions from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Region 6 Festival (KCACTF).
With the recent production of “The Book Club” being entered into KCACTF, the theatre department received a response from two respondents that provided feedback and recognition. The core of what KCACTF does as an organization is provide the opportunity for students to have feedback and training opportunities from industry professionals and professors from across the country, Head of Technical Design at TVCC and KCATCF Region 6 Co-Chair Elizabeth “Biz” Nelson explained.
The respondents chose three students as Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship nominees. The Irene Ryan Acting Nominations were awarded to:
Pluto Wilson as Ana Smith
Scott Peebles as Robert Novum Smith Jr.
Riley O'Donnell as William Nothnagel
This is Riley O’ Donnell’s second time to be nominated for an Irene Ryan while attending TVCC.
The entire cast received recognition with a Meritorious Achievement Award in Ensemble and Performance. The Book Club Play is being 'held for consideration' to perform at the KCACTF regional festival.
“This is a high honor for our students and our department,” TVCC Director of Theatre Craig Lee expressed. “This means that the committee members who attended our production over the weekend felt our work was some of the best in the region this year. This includes productions from universities and other community colleges. The entire committee will deliberate in December and finalize which schools will be formally invited. In most years they invite five to six shows.”
On Feb. 23 through 27, colleges and universities from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Louisiana that consist of Region 6 will gather in Abilene for workshops, showcase the finest regional productions, networking, interviews, and celebrate student’s work.
The next production for TVCC Theatre Department is Working: The Musical for the spring 2025 semester.
