Trinity Valley Community College’s Iota Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) International Honor Society brought home multiple awards from the Texas PTK Regional Convention in Corpus Christi on Thursday, March 7 through Saturday, March 9.
During the convention, Iota Alpha Chapter of PTK presented a workshop on community service and was awarded the First Place Community Service Award.
TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison was recognized and inducted into the Texas Hall of Honor for New Presidents for the Texas Region of PTK. Advisor Nancy Long received the Award of Service.
Individual members of the chapter were awarded multiple awards including:
- Ruby Brand won the Most Distinguished Chapter Member in the state of Texas.
- Kelly Ann Walker won a TX PTK Hall of Honor Award for Chapter Officers.
- Ten TVCC PTK officers including Ruby Brand, Seth Pineda, Anita Thomas, Kelly Ann Walker, Alina Futch, Ana Leanos, Luis Guardado, Nathaniel Hamilton, Justleigh Harrison, and Brian Sawe were awarded the TX PTK District 3 Hall of Honor Awards.
The Iota Alpha Chapter of PTK also won the Five Star Chapter Award, REACH Award for enrollment success, TX PTK Award of Merit for Honors in Action, and TX PTK Award of Merit for College Project. Out of 93 PTK chapters in TX, 18 chapters have been selected as the TX PTK Top Chapter Award. TVCC’’s chapter was named of the Top 18 Chapters in TX.
