Rotary Club of Athens Establishes TVCC Scholarship
The Rotary Club of Athens has partnered with Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) Foundation to establish a new scholarship fund dedicated to supporting local students in their pursuit of higher education.
During the March 6 regularly scheduled Rotary Club meeting, the two organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to officially launch the Rotary Club of Athens Scholarship Fund. With an initial donation of $13,000, this fund will provide financial assistance to TVCC students who meet the outlined criteria.
TVCC is committed to collaborating with the community and local leaders, as shared by TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison. “This partnership with the Rotary Club of Athens is a testament to their dedication to supporting our students and investing in education and community development,” said Dr. Morrison. “These scholarships will make a real difference in the lives of our students, helping them achieve their academic and career goals.”
The scholarship will be awarded through the TVCC Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit established to support TVCC students and the institution, and will follow the Foundation’s established guidelines. The Rotary Club’s generous contribution will be matched in part by TVCC, further enhancing the impact of the awards.
Among the designated scholarships under this fund are:
• The Rotary Club of Athens - Orval Pirtle Scholarship ($500 TVCC match)
• The Rotary Club of Athens - Rip Drumgoole Scholarship ($500 TVCC match)
• The Rotary Club of Athens - Ron Baugh Scholarship ($500 TVCC match)
• The Rotary Club of Athens - Anthony Chiles Workforce Scholarship
Additional scholarships may be determined annually by the Rotary Club.
“The Rotary Club of Athens has a long history of service and community impact, and this scholarship fund is a powerful extension of that mission,” expressed TVCC Foundation Board President Ethan Jackson. “Their generosity will open doors for students who may not have otherwise had the opportunity to pursue higher education.”
Funds will directly support Henderson County residents from Athens, Trinidad, LaPoynor, Cross Roads, Brownsboro, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy, and other local communities who are attending TVCC.
