TVCC and UT Tyler Partner to Tackle Student Barriers

Trinity Valley Community College and University of Texas at Tyler are partnering together.

Trinity Valley Community College and University of Texas at Tyler are partnering together to provide a seamless transfer opportunity to all students.

On Friday, Jan. 31, representatives from UT Tyler's School of Nursing, College of Arts and Sciences, Soules College of Business, and College of Education and Psychology visited TVCC’s Athens Campus to identify the barriers students face and explore ways to provide support.

“We are working together to create seamless transfer opportunities and ensure an easy transition for all students,” said Holley Collier, Associate Vice President of Instructional Innovation and Support. “We are reviewing our curriculum, textbooks, teaching methods, and more to determine how we can best support our students. There is no reason for constant barriers to stand in their way, and we are committed to breaking those barriers down.”

The UT Tyler and TVCC faculty visit is part of TVCC’s Talent Strong Texas Pathways initiative, where faculty and staff are working to enhance students’ educational experiences by streamlining transitions, facilitating transfers, and removing barriers to higher education.
