TVCC Theatre Instructor Joins Prestigious KCACTF Region 3 Festival as Invited Guest Artist

Trinity Valley Community College’s Head of Technical Design Elizabeth “Biz” Nelson

Trinity Valley Community College’s Head of Technical Design Elizabeth “Biz” Nelson is representing TVCC as an invited guest artist at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) Region 3 Conference, held in Madison, Wisconsin, from Jan. 8 to Jan. 11.

During the conference, she will have the opportunity to engage with student designers by providing feedback on costume and makeup designs, offering invaluable insights into the creative and technical aspects of theatre design. Additionally, Nelson will lead a panel discussion for Women+ theatre designers and technical theatre artists. This panel will provide a platform for Women+ students and allies to explore the intersection of feminine identity and navigating professional and academic spaces, fostering meaningful dialogue and mentorship opportunities.

As a serving member of the KCACTF Regional Executive Committee, Nelson plays a pivotal role in evaluating all invited productions at the conference. These productions are eligible for national recognition, and Nelson’s responsibilities include responding to an invited production and contributing to the deliberation process for award selection.

Her contributions to KCACTF extend beyond the festival. In 2021, she received the prestigious Gold Medallion, the highest honor awarded within the KCACTF organization for excellence in educational theatre.

Her continuous recognitions and participation highlight Nelson’s dedication to supporting student artists and advancing educational theatre.
