TVCC Partners with UT Tyler to Train Local Pharmacists
Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) is proud to partner with the University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) to help train more local pharmacists.
On Thursday, Sept. 5, TVCC President Dr. Jason Morrison attended the signing event at UT Tyler, where the Early Assurance Program was announced, marking a significant milestone for TVCC students.
“The partnership with UT Tyler is an excellent opportunity for TVCC students to advance their careers in pharmacy,” Morrison said. “Higher Education is about collaborations and pathways to new opportunities to advance student success.”
The MOU guarantees entry for five TVCC students into the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy after completing their first year of undergraduate studies at UT Tyler, explained Dr. Jason Smith, Associate Vice President of Health Sciences. If a higher number of students is needed, UT Tyler has agreed to reassess the number based on admission demand.
"TVCC is committed to helping students complete the classes they need before transferring to UT Tyler to continue their higher education," Smith added.
The College of Pharmacy at UT Tyler offers a four-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program that empowers students to enhance healthcare delivery and serve their communities. Through a partnership with TVCC, this initiative creates a strong pipeline of locally trained pharmacists, offering TVCC students a clear pathway to a successful career in pharmacy. The program provides hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to help students thrive in the field.
“Our partnership with UT Tyler, and their College of Pharmacy, provides TVCC students with the opportunity to begin at TVCC and then have a seamless transition to UT Tyler,” Vice President of Instruction Spencer Wagley shared. “Our students can prepare for a pharmaceutical career while staying close to their communities and help those communities fill those local pharmacy vacancies. We are grateful that our students have been given this opportunity and appreciate the relationship we have with UT Tyler. “
